This is because, defendant’s counsel maintains that the lower court overlooked evidentiary contradictions in the complaint and there is no substantial proof against Mr. Kumar. The petition points out procedural mistakes in the investigation and claims his continued detention amounts to an infringement of his right to personal liberty. On 26th July, 2024, the Supreme Court allowed a hearing for a bail application by Kumar, suggesting that it could be an accelerated trial considering the nature of the allegations and their possible effects on his professional practice.
