INTRODUCTION In the Supreme Court recently a pleas was filed by Sharad Pawar to prevent Ajit Pawar from using National Congress Party’s (NCP) ‘clock’ symbol in the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra. It was pleaded to direct Ajit Pawar to apply for a new election symbol to avoid confusion among the voters.

INTRODUCTION On October 1, 2024, The Bombay High Court affirmed death penalty awarded to Sunil Rama Kuchkoravi, for the brutal murder and cannibalistic killing of his 63-year-old mother in 2017. The crime scene involved gruesome acts of violence against a woman called Yallama Rama Kuchkoravi and it is was proven that the convict cut and tried to eat her vital organs. The court, which said this act fell into the ‘rarest of rare’ category, upheld the death sentence passed by Kolhapur Sessions Court.

INTRODUCTION The Goods and Service Tax (GST) collections for September 2024 recorded a positive growth trend registering a 6.5 per cent increase amounting to Rs. 1.73 lakh crore. Though the growth rate has relatively appeared modest, experts in the field are optimistic with regard to the increasing trend of the GST collections in the upcoming months emphasizing the ongoing festive season and the government’s proactive approach in controlling the revenue fluctuations.

INTRODUCTION Recently, in the case of PayU Payments Private Limited v. The New India Assurance Co Ltd, the Delhi High Court had observed that, it had limited powers under §11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, and thus, cannot decide on the arbitrability of the dispute, i.e., whether the dispute is capable of being settled by the process of Arbitration, while exercising powers to appoint an arbitrator.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the problem of falsification of accounts whose provisions are outlined in the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It reinforces the manner in which inaccurate records in the financial statements underpin deficiencies in corporate governance and systematically disrupt the economy. Particularly the study explores India’s legal changes and its similarity and differences with the US legal system, with distinct focus on forensic accounting and technological advances in the identification of fraud.
